Wyclef Jean – Fast Car

Fun 16 September 2008 | 0 Comments

Something about this song really resonates with me. I think a lot of it has to do with the somewhat raw quality to the song. It sounds like a live performance (maybe it is, I don’t know) and there’s something just slightly off in the way the lyrics work with the music, which makes for an interesting sound.

As an aside, this embedding feature of Songza rocks!

It’s like 37signals or 43 Things. Except it’s 23 Fries.

Also, my name for the day is Natasha Hoyd, apparently. Yesterday I was Nathan Lloyd. Who will I be tomorrow?

My first video on Flickr

Fun 1 September 2008 | 0 Comments

I recently got a Flip Ultra and have been exploring what you can do with it that goes beyond still photography. I shot this video in California on the highway to San Francisco which was a particularly beautiful drive.

I like how you can hear the music I was listening to and even the GPS. It creates just the right kind of soundtrack for the road. Of course, it was a little awkward holding on to the Flip and the steering wheel at the same time. Probably not the safest thing to do while driving. :) Still, it’s a nice way of capturing the scenery and the feel of the road that would have been impossible without a small hand-held camcorder.

Side note #1: I’m not sure why the first few seconds of the video are still. It might be an artifact of the Flip video software.

Side note #2: The song is “It’s Too Late” by Evermore.
